Pit Bulls and Stereotypes

What is the first thing you think about when you hear the word Pit Bull. Is it a loving dog or a dog that can easily rip out your throat. I work in Retail and see a lot of the same customers on a daily basis. Some of them know about my Pit Bull Odie. There are some people who jokingly say to me, I see you still have a face, well of course I still have my face intact. Just because I own a APBT doesn't mean that one day all of a sudden, I'm not going to have my face.
I've always been in love with the so called dangerous dog breeds. Growing up I had a German Shepherd who I loved to death and when her passing came, I was devistated. My uncle had a husky and my aunt had APBT's. So I've always been around these types of dogs. Now I also have a chow mix who is very much a chow personality. She loves everyone unless they start to act stupid. She would die to protect my 4 yr old, and would definately attack an intruder to her own demise. So you ask me why these types of dogs and not some silly little foo foo dog who would just want to sit in your lap.
Well here's your answer. I do have silly little foo foo dogs that want to just sit in my lap. Odie sleeps in bed with me which I know when he's a yr old he will be way to big for our queen sized bed but until then he will curl up in bed with us. My chow mix Pinky who's all black would die for us, just because she loves us so much. Odie wouldn't hurt a fly unless it was a toy. Big bad Pit Bull, I don't think so.
